Markdown to rich text
Turn Markdown into formatted text, free in your browser with no sign-up. Type or paste on the Markdown tab, press Copy as rich text, then paste into Word, Google Docs, an email or a wiki with the formatting intact. You can also download a .docx or an .html file.
Where you can paste it
Copy as rich text puts formatted text on your clipboard, the same way copying from a web page does. That works anywhere that keeps formatting when you paste, such as Word, Google Docs, Pages, most email programs and many wikis. To paste without the formatting, press Ctrl+Shift+V, or Cmd+Shift+V on a Mac.
Some apps have their own format, so they have their own tools: Confluence, Jira and Slack.
What it keeps
- Headings, bold, italic and strikethrough
- Lists, links, quotes and tables
- Code, in a fixed-width font
- In the .docx and .html downloads, Mermaid and other diagrams as pictures
Where it struggles
- The app you paste into decides how the formatting looks
- When you copy as rich text, diagrams stay as code
- It makes formatted text and .docx, not .rtf files
Frequently asked questions
What is rich text?
Text with formatting such as headings, bold and links, as you get in a word processor, rather than plain characters. Markdown is plain text that describes that formatting.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
